22 Hours

Pack of Winstons, the ashtray’s near full.

I knock off a long ash and watch the smoke swirl.

Then I trace the flowers on the curtains again,

And realize all this is wearing too thin.

Three months on the road, and I’m in Molene,

Out chasing a songwriter’s elusive dream.

Time’s draggin’ on, til it’s time for a shower,

And I’ve started hatin’ the days then the hours.

22 hours – left to go, til I’m on stage and end up wanting more.

I don’t mind it here at the no tell motel.

Sheets are clean, cash pays the bill.
